Living School Board Code of Conduct
Application of the code
1. This code applies to each member and adviser on the Living School board, and is intended to promote and maintain the highest standard of ethical behaviour by school Guardians of Purpose members and advisers Operational guidelines for school Guardians of Purpose & advisers.
2. In fulfilling their role, school Guardians of Purpose and advisers will:
· remain objective at all times
· avoid personal bias
· maintain confidentiality regarding the school’s resources, students, staff, curriculum and financial records
· understand that they are appointed as representatives of the school or wider
community.

3. Guardians of Purpose and advisers should draw upon personal and professional insight
(background and experience) when reviewing information.
4. Guardians of Purpose and advisers must act ethically and with integrity at all times.
5. Decisions should be objective and robust, fully supported by evidence and be defensible.
6. Guardians of Purpose and advisers should ensure that all information provided to the board
is accurate, comprehensive, timely, honest and impartial.

7. Guardians of Purpose and advisers should treat members of the educational community and colleagues fairly, sensitively, consistently and with respect.
8. Guardians of Purpose and advisers should listen and be tolerant of the views and opinions of others, even if those views and opinions differ from their own.
9. Guardians of Purpose and advisers should conduct his or herself professionally and not behave in an inappropriate manner.
10. Guardians of Purpose and advisers should maintain confidentiality and sensitivity at all times on sensitive topics discussed at the board meetings or with Guardians of Purpose.
