Thriver is Living School’s intentional outdoor education programme from Kindergarten through Year 10. It grows good character the way the best adventure education has always done: real challenge, real community, and real places.
Your child does not only hear about resilience — they practise it. They cook, navigate, collaborate, sit still on Bundjalung Country, and learn to look after people and place. Academics stay serious; they simply meet the world where the world happens.
We weave academic rigour, character development, and respect for Indigenous wisdom and Country into one lived programme — not an add-on after the “real” learning.

Three ways Thriver shows up
Simple structure parents can remember — and students live every term.
The weekly practice
Every Friday, the classroom walls dissolve. From volcanic basalt at Flat Rock to the mangroves of North Creek, students build place-based mastery — senses and science in Primary; agency, navigation, and crew roles in Middle School.
The crucible of character
Character is not built in comfort. House Survivor, mastery badges (earned, not given), and the Solo when students are ready — rites of passage that grow independence with care. Challenge by Choice: stretch into growth, not into despair.
Context is queen
Private buses become mobile classrooms across the Northern Rivers — rock pools, farms, museums, galleries, Elders, and community. Students practise civic confidence and service: beach clean-ups, planting days, looking after Jugun (Country).

Thriver is a long arc — the same culture of courage and care, deepening as students grow.
Primary · K–4
Shore sentinels, knots, buoyancy, Bundjalung seasons — science and story through the hands and the heart.
Middle School · 5–8
Wayfinders, Providers, Archivists — navigation geometry, Solo Sit poetry, ethnobotany, and real responsibility in a crew.
Academy · 9–10
Stage 5 XP Challenge — multi-day and multi-week journeys across Australia, still held inside Thriver and Challenge by Choice.

Thriver is bush-based outdoor education designed for courage, connection, and character — with Bundjalung Country as teacher and home.
Students learn to be alone with their thoughts when ready for the Solo; they practise Nowin (breath) and stillness in a frantic world. They earn mastery — Fiber-Smith, Navigator, and more — markers of genuine technical and social sovereignty, not participation awards.
