Community Engagement Meeting around the IB Diploma Programme
Dear All,
Thank you to those people who logged in last night to hear more about our consideration of introducing the IB Diploma program.
And I am sharing my presentation delivered last night – CLICK HERE. I congratulate Feli for presenting so passionately around the TOK – and it was great to have our New Zealand consultant, Les Millard, attend the session.
Here is our IB Handbook I created which will provide lots of detail – CLICK HERE
As shown, I have updated our website with direct information on the IB DP – https://living.academy
There is also an online document for you to add any questions – CLICK HERE
I have had strong applications for our Coordinator role, who will lead the IB and Academy – see job advertised here
We have had near unanimous current teachers complete a survey to register their interest and support for teaching the IB DP
I am submitting costings to our Board but the program – as we consider to operate only the IB DP pathway (no HSC parallel stream) – is manageable.
A question to which we didn’t respond was about our new Living Academy campus at SCU – see above
This is the current Z Block at Southern Cross University, and we will be moving into this space for the start of 2025.
It has incredible space, much of which we can just ‘walk’ into. There is a generous science lab, large connected spaces for theatre, offices and classrooms. We will look to the visual art space – and we will consider the Brown and Jolly space as our design tech and workshop for trades. It also has great access to agriculture technology, too.
So, in short (difficult for me), the new campus will be launched with our prospective consideration of launching the IB Diploma.
