Scholarship Criterion at Living School

Eligibility Requirements

1. Residency:

  • Open to students who have completed Year 10 in NSW or an equivalent interstate qualification.

 

2. Academic Performance:

  • Evidence of consistent academic achievement in Year 10, as reflected in school reports and relevant assessments.
  • Applicants who can demonstrate potential and drive despite financial challenges will be given additional consideration.

 

3. Financial Circumstances (Optional):

  • Applicants may submit a statement or evidence supporting their need for financial assistance, which the Scholarship Committee will consider when assessing eligibility.

Selection Process

Step 1: Online Application

  1. Academic Record Submission:
  • Provide the last two years of academic transcripts and any other relevant qualifications or achievements.

2. Responses to Open-Ended Questions:

Applicants must complete the following:

  • Describe a challenge in your learning journey and how you overcame it.
  • What motivates your academic pursuits, and how do you see yourself contributing to our school community?
  • How do independence and ethics play a role in your study habits?
  • What is one area of knowledge or a skill you’re passionate about, and how do you cultivate that passion?

 

Step 2: References

  • A reference letter from a current school principal, teacher, or mentor addressing:
  • The applicant’s academic ability.
  • Independence and resilience in learning.
  • Contributions to the school or broader community.
  • Personal ethics and integrity.

 

Step 3: Interview

Shortlisted candidates will attend a structured interview with a panel including:

  • Principal or senior school leader.
  • Representative from the academic faculty.
  • External legal or educational advisor (optional for impartiality).

Interview Criteria:

  • Ability to articulate goals and motivations.
  • Communication skills, including clarity, thoughtfulness, and originality.
  • Examples of independent study and problem-solving.
  • Alignment with the school’s values and vision.

 

Selection Criteria Weighting

1.Academic Achievement: 40%

2.Written Responses: 20%

3.Reference Letter: 15%

4.Interview Performance: 25%

5.Financial Need (optional consideration).

Scholarship Terms and Conditions

 

1.Ongoing Academic Standards:

  • Scholarship holders must maintain strong academic performance in Year 11 to continue their scholarship in Year 12.
  • Poor performance or failure to meet Living School’s academic expectations may result in the withdrawal of the scholarship.

 

2. Active Participation:

  • Scholarship recipients are expected to contribute to Living School’s vibrant community, including participating in leadership opportunities, school events, and service initiatives.

 

3. Code of Conduct:

  • Students must adhere to Living School’s values and behaviour standards, demonstrating ethical practices in all aspects of their learning and interactions.
