Newsletter – Staff Requirements

Each term, we provide three official newsletters to communicate with our community.  The newsletter is completed via the Google Document setup for each relevant area.

Our Community Liaison Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, communication, editing and publishing of each newsletter.  This is a huge responsibility and so vital deadlines are met.

For the start of semester, Week 0, there will be an overall office newsletter, outlining organisation and needs, and the expectation is for all Directors/teachers to communicate via email what is happening for the semester in their specific area. These emails will then be harvested and added to the Living School social Community page.

The following format is followed:

Week 1 Newsletter – sent out on Thursday of the first week

  • Conductor – overview and message of intent, with reference to the new KeyStone theme and any strategic direction.
  • Administration – forward planning oversight for the termly calendar
  • Community Liaison – outline of parent involvement
  • Advocate – outline of support based on social/emotional/learning needs
  • Bus – information on bus management and logistics (with specific focus on any holiday variations and change of routes/drivers)
  • Learning Neighbourhood overviews – all Learning Neighbourhood Directors are responsible for completing an overview of the pedagogy (timetable, programs, assessments), learning, experiences/events/camps, staffing and resources.
  • Sport Coordinator – overview of sport available and any competitions/carnivals

ALL REPORTS ARE TO BE COMPLETED BY THE TUESDAY OF WEEK 1

Weeks 2 and 3 Newsletter – sent out on Friday of the third week

Photos and Videos

Consider privacy – and check in Classter if the student is able to be published.  Try not to get students’ faces and consider what is appropriate for presenting to the public, i.e. are they wearing hats? are they wearing appropriate clothes?

All photos are to be saved to the Google Drive under the relevant section – HERE

Consider short videos to show what we do – these can be used on our social feeds.

Many staff post shots onto our WhatsApp group, which we can then access and publish onto our social platforms.
