Bicycles, Skateboards and Scooters

Children need to be proficient bike/skateboard/scooter riders and to be able to demonstrate correct behaviour and knowledge of the road rules before they ride their bike/skateboard/scooter to and from school.

Helmets are compulsory and bikes/skateboards/scooters are to be left in the bike rack provided.  They are not allowed to be ridden during school hours – unless there is a specific learning task assigned and the activity is supervised by a staff member.

For reference, the Department of Education recommends that students need to be 10 years and older before they can walk/ride to school alone.

Any student arriving at school without a helmet will not be allowed to ride the bike/scooter home. Parents should be contacted and arrangements made to collect the bike or scooter.
