KeyStone Themes for Inquiry

Our unique curriculum design integrates throughout all the school years six Keystone themes.

Term 1 – Identity

Term 2 – Nature

Term 3 – Life & Living

Term 4 – Civilisation

Term 5 – Phenomena

Term 6 – Service

The keystone themes are explored via an Inquiry question – developed with the students to be age-appropriate.

Every year, the keystone question explores the theme more deeply as the students’ awareness and understanding mature. This repetition each year intentionally links to memory, reiterating the learning from the previous year.

Understanding these themes provides our students with a broader awareness, a greater consciousness of “awakefulness”.

Teachers at Living School are learning designers, and as such they should plan carefully, reviewing the HSIE and Science syllabuses for inquiry questions on which they can develop their teaching and learning programs.  There is an expectation of teachers to collaborate and communicate intentions termly, via programming templates, so the progression through a school is purposeful and intentionally developing understanding, skills and knowledge.
