Excursions and expeditions are an integral part of our school’s educational experience.  As a Living School teacher, you are professionally expected to carefully design and engineer learning experiences that take students ‘out of the box’.  We want learning to be Life-Worthy, extended and engaging.  Each term, excursions should be planned around the KeyStone theme – and organised with enough time and resources to ensure our office team are able to communicate and manage the bus logistics.

Excursions around the Lismore area do not require any additional consent: an over-arching consent form is completed at the start of the year by all parents/carers.  Please familiarise yourself with the local opportunities for learning – a spelling walk, noticing signs; a maths lesson exploring the local supermarket; a history lesson accessing the regional gallery/museum – Lismore has plenty of opportunities to experience and enrich classroom lessons.

Excursions offer students the opportunity to explore and learn outside of the classroom, enriching their understanding of various subjects.

All students experience annual camps.  The cost must be carefully considered as we do not charge parents any additional fees for attending camps.

Expeditions are a key focus in Stage 5 for our Academy. They provide immersive, hands-on learning experiences that foster teamwork, critical thinking and a deeper connection with the world and each other.

An annual Northern Territory expedition is organised and managed by Sammy Robinson.  This is a paid expedition for parents seeking their child/ren to attend – it is in addition to the school fees.  First priority is given to our Stage 5 Academy students.  A teacher each year is offered the opportunity to attend.
